Why swing matters

Swing highs and lows are the turning points that define a trend. Higher highs and higher lows mean an uptrend; lower highs and lower lows mean a downtrend. Breaking the last swing is often the first sign the trend is changing.

How traders use it

  • In an uptrend, traders buy pullbacks that hold above the last swing low.
  • In a downtrend, traders sell rallies that fail below the last swing high.
  • A break of the last swing low in an uptrend (or high in a downtrend) warns of a change.

Trend by timeframe

  • Daily: channel up, last swing HH at —, break level $14.38.
  • Gap: SIC opened Aug 25 at $43.47, a gap down of 1.4% from $44.09; the gap was not filled.
  • Round numbers nearby: $40.00, $45.00, $50.00.

Combined conditions

  • VWAP $38.42. Swing levels that line up with zones are the strongest.

How to trade around SIC's swing levels

1. Hold above the swing lowAs long as SIC stays above $14.38, the swing low holds; a daily close under it would break the structure.
2. Break above the swing highA daily close above $50.09 would make a higher high and is read as trend strength.
